Good for Obama: he now pledges to release a list of all staff contacts with the governor's office:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16486.... Exactly what he needs to do.

Beyond that, he's no longer Illinois' Senator. Once he's demonstrated his distance from the Blago scandal, he's got much more important things to do than be expected to comment on its every twist and turn hereout.

The AP has a video of the governor on his way to work. I will assume that this was filmed today.

An opinion piece out of New York:
    http://www.norwichbulletin.com/opinions/columni...

"Just call Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich the Joe Montana of politics. Much like the Hall of Fame quarterback, famed for his late-in-the-game scoring drives, Blagojevich has stormed down the field in the closing minutes of 2008 to eclipse Eliot Spitzer as Most Disgraced Governor of the Year."

"Good for Obama: he now pledges to release a list of all staff contacts with the governor’s office:"

    You're being a little hasty.

    Notice he didn't say when.

Time to go back and look at the definition of "is".

The $1.4B certificate sale that was to be conducted today has apparently been delayed until Tues 12/16. You can see the updated addendum to the sale at munios.com.

Also, Bond Buyer is reporting that S&P has placed IL under negative watch. That means higher borrowing costs on the delayed certificate sale and future bond sales. This was likely coming someday, but was hastened by the charges against the Governor.

A story about how interviewing with Blago was a bit strange... (He spent a lot of time talking about Hamilton)

This link is from the Dec 8 Sun Times. It may be a bit old but with hindsight, I should have connected the dots....
    "December 8, 2008

The sentencing of former Democratic National Committee fund-raiser Joseph Cari Jr. has been delayed at the request of prosecutors.

It's a sign the feds want to use Cari as a witness -- again.

Cari, who has admitted guilt in a corruption case, is a former campaign fund-raiser for Vice President-elect Joe Biden, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Blagojevich. He was supposed to be sentenced months ago, after he testified against Tony Rezko, the former fund-raiser for Blagojevich and President-elect Barack Obama. But that was put off, and no new date has been set.

At Rezko's trial, Cari testified that Blagojevich told him he planned to reward big campaign donors with state contracts. The governor has denied having that conversation.
Cari pleaded guilty more than three years ago..."
