It may be a bit old but with hindsight, I should have connected the dots....
"December 8, 2008

The sentencing of former Democratic National Committee fund-raiser Joseph Cari Jr. has been delayed at the request of prosecutors.

It's a sign the feds want to use Cari as a witness -- again.

Cari, who has admitted guilt in a corruption case, is a former campaign fund-raiser for Vice President-elect Joe Biden, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Blagojevich. He was supposed to be sentenced months ago, after he testified against Tony Rezko, the former fund-raiser for Blagojevich and President-elect Barack Obama. But that was put off, and no new date has been set.

At Rezko's trial, Cari testified that Blagojevich told him he planned to reward big campaign donors with state contracts. The governor has denied having that conversation.
Cari pleaded guilty more than three years ago..."

http://www.suntimes.com/new...

Re: Breaking news open thread

Funny

http://www.suntimes.com/com...

Re: Breaking news open thread

MSNBC reports that Deputy Governor Louanner Peters is "Senate Candidate 4".

Re: Breaking news open thread

Blagojevich's Promise to Mom: 'I'll Never Take Bribes'
2006 DNC Video: 'Not Only Would That Be Dishonest, It Would Be Illegal'
By RHONDA SCHWARTZ and KATE McCARTHY
December 11, 2008
Governor Rod Blagojevich promised his mother he would always be honest and "never take bribes," according to a 2006 video posted online by the Democratic National Committee

http://abcnews.go.com/Blott...

Re: Breaking news open thread

A story about how interviewing with Blago was a bit strange... You can see the updated addendum to the sale at munios.com.

Also, Bond Buyer is reporting that S&P has placed IL under negative watch. That means higher borrowing costs on the delayed certificate sale and future bond sales. This was likely coming someday, but was hastened by the charges against the Governor.

Re: Breaking news open thread

"Good for Obama: he now pledges to release a list of all staff contacts with the governor’s office:"

You're being a little hasty.

Notice he didn't say when.

Time to go back and look at the definition of "is".

Re: Breaking news open thread

the politico link is:
http://www.politico.com/new...

the period at the end of the sentence messed it up

Re: Breaking news open thread

An opinion piece out of New York:
http://www.norwichbulletin....

"Just call Illinois Gov.
