Contrary to what the very vocal extreme 20% keep saying. Durbin's willingness to stand up to this out of control administration is reason enough for his numbers to go up.

I believe his poll numbers are up due to the support his Guantanamo position was given by Osama bin Laden in his last video. Both Dick and Osama are railing at the US for it's defense measures taken in Cuba. If all goes well for the Democrats, perhaps Osama can show up at Dick's campaign rallies in 2008!

if i was dick durbin i wouldn't be to happy with a 52% approval rating. cosidering bush has an approval rating of about 36% in illinois. look at most of the other democratic senators in the poll and most are above dick's numbers. dick seems to be "just" above average. dick's just average.
