No one has mentioned that out of Duckworth's $1 million plus from individuals, only 2.6% came from the 6th district. In contrast to Roskam's 55% from individuals. Where is Duckworth's Support-not in the 6th!

If Tammy Duckworth takes on the Pete Granata soundbite and says that she was chasing bin Laden while Roskam was chasing ambulances, I guess that would be somewhat of an admission that Al Qaeda had ties to Saddam HusseinÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Iraq.

I was just reading about a Maj. Tammy Duckworth who lost her legs during the Iraq War. Can somebody please tell me if this is the same Tammy Duckworth who attended United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) in Singapore in the early 80's?

"Nobody drafted her" and so we don't have to provide housing for her so that she can get around without her legs.

Our troops volunteered, so we don't have to provide them with body armor, or armor for their vehicles, or a real mission.

Is that your point?

Bored now - You've seen Bin Laden ? I think Granata's point was Maj Duckworth was actively fighting the war on terror as opposed to just paying lip service. It's easy to "support the military" another thing to actually serve. Ask 5 deferrment Cheney. Remember, before you can "cut and run" you have to show up. Spread the pain and sacrifice, bring back the draft.

Let us do a quick comparison:
Major Tammy Duckworth: Iraqi war vet who lost both of her legs in combat.

Peter Roskam: Sleazy ambulance-chasing personal injury lawyer who never served.

By the way, was it the Dems that failed to provide body armor for the troops? Who didn't realize that military vehicle needed armor? Who failed to realize that there just might be an insurgency and we better plan for it? Who were outsmarted by French intelligence (they sure whipped the B-Team about WMD!).

Thanks for the good laugh about "conventional wisdom."

Pete, her record does not need to be exaggerated. Her service stands on it's own. Roskam has legislative experience, she does not, his true views are now, hers are not; Roskam is not being handled by CHciago dems or anyone else as much as she is.

"conventional wisdom" already is that democrats aren't supportive of the military -- exaggerating a dem vet's experience feeds that perception...

Duckworth will not win in DuPage, which are the majority of voters in the Sixth District. People in towns like ELmhurst, Bensenville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Bloomingdale and Addison DO NOT vote demorcatic for congressional races, especailly for a Cook County Dem, as she is beinglabed as. She will get votes from Cook, in places like Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove, and Schaumburg, but not enuff to win the race.

Yes, Bush was Birded or Byrded by the NAACP. Funny how the 2 of the three guys were on Death Row, but that wasn't good enough for critics. They still wanted the goofs charged for a hate crime.
If Roskam attacks her service, I will not walk for him. But according to many Duckworth staffers here, anything short of donating $1000 is attacking her service. Questioning judgement is one thing, questioning service is another.

but i think we've established that skeeter doesn't understand republicans (or their campaign tactics).

personally, i'd be shocked if roskam questioned duckworth's patriotism. otoh, i have no doubt that he will utilize the same tactics employed in georgia...

Duckworth has (690) slightly more than 1/2 as many individuals contributing, a lot seem to be outside of the 6th and in Chicago. It looks like just under 45% are from outside the 6th.

The "free pass" comments are paranoid and/or delusional. She doesn't get a free pass from anybody. If I know Republicans, they are going to Swift Boat her, like they did Max Cleland. A cheap hack like Roskam is going to question the patriotism of Major Duckworth.

Luckily, Illinois isn't Georgia and people here will not tolerate that sort of stuff.
