I don't think you have to worry about that Paul.

just what we need--another dick mell protege.

Deb Mell is quite possibly the WORST name being thrown around for Rahm's seat. I've also heard Claypool, Quigley, Schulter, and even Manny Flores- who has a sizeable amount of $ in a fed account from last time.

What about Robin Kelly for Debbie Halvorson's seat? I think she'd be a great Congresswoman.

Wow... that is pretty brazen of Deb Mell... she muscled her way into the State Rep seat.. she has yet to serve a day in the General Assembly and now she is interested in running for Congress.

I like Dick Mell, but this a bit nutty.

I can see the commercials now: "From the guy that brought you Rod Blagojevich..."

Forget the Robin Kelly remark- my brain must still be fried from Election Day (or more specifically, Election Night). Although I still think she would be great.

I'm hearing Manny Flores too. He doesn't live in the District, but that didn't stop Dan Seals, Jill Morgenthaller, or Melissa Bean all who don't live in the District they ran. Manny has a lot of money left over from when he was going to run in the 4th Congressional District before Luis jumped back in.

From The Hill "Mell said she has a solid base to work with in the 5th district’s gay community.

She said she “would imagine” that the governor would endorse her."

By even being in the same sentence as the Governor, and being open to his endorsement, she just proved that she has no business being in the race.

    Hey Chris,
Every year is a lousy year to be a Republican.

Deb, I love you but there are a lot of successful, dedicated public servants who have proven track records who deserve the shot much more than you do. Dad may have been able to get the seat for Rod years ago but times change. Relax and enjoy your term as St.Rep. Work hard and learn. Maybe someday you'll get to Congress.

Hassert might have had a chance if he actually walked precincts and had worked the district in the past decade. He even lost his own precinct.

Long-term incumbents on both sides of the aisle need to realize that using mail, radio and the normal old-style communications don't work by themselves anymore.
