Bomke proposed law is most likely unconsitutional. I guess Bomke does not beleive in the whole republican free market idea that Ayers should be allowed to work for anyone willing to employ him. So I guess Bomke supports regualting state jobs that they can only hire people who fit Bomke's standards regardless of ability or merit to fill the position. Did we not just throw an official out of office for trying to set aside the principals of merit hiring?

Sen. Bomke may think he's representing his constituents by doing this but he's mistaken. There are many other more pressing and important issues that need the Senator's attention. This may only be a message being sent but even if that's the case it's not productive.

What's next from Bomke? Perhaps, a bill requiring loyalty oaths of all state and university employees?

Or perhaps as an alternative he might think about focusing on the state's fiscal crisis instead of pandering to reactionary element of his district. And yes, he's my state senator . . . .

Good for Rep. Nekrtiz. At least there is one HDem thinking for herself. With Blago and Emil gone, it will be clear who will responsible when there is deadlock this session.

Bomke's proposal doesn't surprise me a bit. To those of us who have watched him since his days on the Sangamon County Board, this is par for the course. As Sangamon County Board chairman, he was quoted as saying "It's too bad we have an Open Meetings Act" - which he said was taken out of context. This latest proposal is just along the same line.
