Keep quiet? No, he would have isued a press release advising Quinn to sign the bill, then gin up the groups supporting the bill. Result: Quinn has a lot more questions to answer and maybe some protesters as well.
Cullerton played Quinn on the ethics bill, the budget and the recall bill. Now he is whining that he is getting some of his own medicine? Give me a break.

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

I sure don't know the protocol for politics, but seems to me our Governor doesn't either. Guess he and I are about equally qualified to get this budget mess done!

I do know that you can't get much done cooperatively, if there is no trust between the parties trying to resolve a difficult issue.

My Mama always said: "You can accomplish anything you set out to do. Know what you are aiming for, go for it, but don't step on others to get there."

The box of chocolates is getting interesting!

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

==the governor made no mention at all of a possible veto today ==

"As you know, the Premier loves surprises." -- Dr. Strangelove

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

it's kind of like writing your own omnibus ethics bill, never letting the Governor have a say in it and then ask him to take it or leave hours before the vote. They all work from the same playbook, that's why the state is a complete mess.

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

Yeah, and I am mad because he looked at me and is breathing my air. When are these people going to get on the same page, put some sincere effort into this process, and stop the constant childish jockeying for position? Beyond tiresome.

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

Sitting through a whole meeting with the senate prez and not saying a word about a major veto you're hours away from stamping is not "playing hardball" It is in fact "playing stupid" Quinn does not benefit from any of this erratic behavior. It weakens his position and gives lawmakers from the leadership to the rank and file reason to distrust him.

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

Maybe he did not mention the veto, but really, who do you trust? As has been said here several times in the past couple weeks, Gov. Quinn thought the GA would play nice, but the GA, esp. its leaders still play hardball. And if the Gov did not mention the veto to Pres. Cullerton, maybe that just means the hard ball is still being tossed around.

Re: SUBSCRIBERS ONLY – This just in…

So...we aren't at rock bottom yet.
