Tribune feed is up and running. Easiest for Mac users of all of them, too.
  • Been There · 11 months ago
Can't find it on CNN. They usually have the clearest feed. FOX32 looks like they are going to carry it live at least in Chicago.
  • Deep South · 11 months ago
Vid on WBBM looks great and I'm running a Mac.
  • What planet is he from again? · 11 months ago
WUIS has it live as well, although they're just yapping right now since it is (surprise!) starting late.
  • Stu · 11 months ago
The "2 minute warning" was more than 5 minutes ago...but I guess that is typical.
  • David · 11 months ago
CNN has the feed on their site now, and CNN will show it live
  • Princess · 11 months ago
Fox news is having a good time with this.
  • Stu · 11 months ago
Ahh, now the "official" 2 minute warning...

  • Ann · 11 months ago
Blah, blah, blah. Shut up and go away. "If they can do this to a governor they can do this to any citizen in Illinois." Sure. We can all be impeached. Oh, and now it's the cowboy joke. He's being hung and they're taking 12 million people of Illinois with him.
  • Nearly Normal · 11 months ago
Same rules that were used for the Clinton impeachment? And, he was found not guilty.

A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!
  • South Side Mike · 11 months ago
Old anonymous cowboy movies? He's been admiring his Sun-Times cover.
  • Y2D · 11 months ago

  • Hair today, gone tomorrow · 11 months ago
"done MOSTLY the right thing for the people of Illinois"
  • Lurker · 11 months ago
Now he wants the editorial boards to help him? lol
  • Sh, he's on a roll · 11 months ago
He's about to employ the Chewbacca Defense, I swear it....

Oh, now he's bringing in the Tribune? His irony meter must be broken.
  • Say WHAT? · 11 months ago
"If they can do this to the Governor, they can do this to any citizen in Illinois"

Hmmm... I didn't know citizens could be impeached, convicted and removed.
  • Rod sez I'm pork · 11 months ago
Asking the Tribune editorial board for help? Now that's chutzpah!

He still wants to close down the Trib, at least he is consistant
  • Ann · 11 months ago
Haha. He can't even say he's done more than "mostly" the right thing for the people of Illinois. And good luck getting the Tribune to start a crusade to protect him from the Senate!

  • Pot calling kettle · 11 months ago
What if the cowboy is on tape stealing a horse? Can he call other cowboys to say he did not steal a horse from any of them? Is it relevant?

Good move appeal to the newspaper he tried to shake down.
  • If the rug doesn't fit... · 11 months ago
Flannery quite restrained this time, surprised he isn't throwing a shoe.
  • bored on 1 · 11 months ago
I believe he is quoting Blazing Saddles. I am trying to find the clip on you tube.
  • Skeeter · 11 months ago
Do you think he sees the irony that he, as part of government, wanted to control the Tribune's editorial board, but now wants that Board to act independently?

Act indepedently, as long as you back ME!
  • Hunterdon · 11 months ago
hoo boy - he's actually gonna take some questions?!?!
  • South of I-80 · 11 months ago
Is this going to be another "up day"?
  • Spiney Norman · 11 months ago
But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

OK, how many people know the Gov? How many people have a chance to talk to Rod? Special interests? The folks who paid millions of dollars to Rod to buy appointments?
  • dupage dan · 11 months ago
They are letting him go on and on and on. It's too bad they don't bring up that great Tribune editorial board irony bit. He wants them to stick around long enough to save him then the board should disappear. Chutzpah indeed!
  • Say WHAT? · 11 months ago
Taking questions... The worst thing he could do. He's spinning out of control.

Rod is the bully on the playground who cries on the teachers shoulder when she shows up, perfectly playing the victim.

I would like to see Cullerton in front of a press conference, answering every question about the impeachment trial. It won't happen, but a point-by-point debunking would be very beneficial.

This news conference, though, was a dud IMO...I had expected more. Oh well.

    The Adventures of Cowboy Rod
    Episode 55: Cowboy Rod's Hangin'
In our last episode, Cowboy Rod was impeached by the General Assembly Boys who cornered our hero in the Bridgeview Corral. Our episode begins as Cowboy Rod is pleading his case before the GA Boys.
Cowboy Rod: I swore on a holy Bible to uphold the law! I can't allow you to hang me because I would be allowing you to break your Oath! If you can throw a governor out anytime they want, those lawmakers who are unknown to voters, are surrounded by a political industrial complex of lobbyists without me! I challenged your system! Free transportation! No tax increases! I was herding cattle with Rahm Emanuel, Jesse Jackson Junior, and Valerie Jarrett! I wasn't even around!

The Boys: Well, it is like this Cowboy Rod. We got here a bunch of crimes with your fingerprints on them. We have you on tape rustling Obama's old horse and trying to sell it to Valerie Jarrett and Jesse Jackson Junior - who you claim you were herding cattle with. Old Man Fitz says they caught you red-handed!

Cowboy Rod: If you hang me you will all pay! You can't afford to pay more during this economic recession, can you? You Boys have conspired against me. My view is this, and I believe it strongly, Mayor Daley publically supported an income tax increase. You GOP Boys want it to so that they can defeat you GA Boys! Without a fair hearing, you will be going down. Rule 8B and 15F hamstrungs me. Very simple. It is basic fundamental fairness, and I am being denied this!

GA Boys: Well Cowboy Rod, it looks like you are out of arguments preventing us from stretching your neck. If we hung you unfairly, we'll be mighty sad. But you have to understand Cowboy Rod, you might not have rustled off Obama's horse, but we have you rustlin' off business in Illinois, we have you rustlin' off our budget, we have you extorting the children's hospital for loot, and we don't like the way you comb your hair.

Cowboy Rod: Look, ya got me! All I want is some fairness!

Will the General Assembly Boys show mercy to Cowboy Rod? Could they be that stupid? Find out next week kids with our next episode: "Cowboy Rod's Final Days!"

After my jaw dropped, and my eyes glazed over during Lil Elvis' performance, my mind drifted back to a similar type defense offered by "Otter" in the movie "Animal House".

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did. But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? halfway through I turned to Fox cable. what a treat. listening to S.Smith screaming at Blago, it was almost as if he did not realize he was on mike. also ringing a bell from time to time. he claimed (incorrectly) that not one local channel was carrying the presser.....WGN and Fox local were.....but he is sure correct that
Blago was speaking to the jury pool.

also, Blago was putting Rahm, Valerie and more on notice that he will be calling them as witnesses. what a spectacle that will be.

when will the long nightmare be over?
  • Been There · 11 months ago
===Um, excuse me, but how many citizens of Illinois are governors who have been arrested after they were caught on FBI surveillance tapes apparently attempting to sell Barack Obama’s US Senate seat?===
I believe the Library guy citizen who was arrested for shop lifting was hung. By the governor himself. And how many others have been fired over being from previous administrations? They didn't even do anything criminally wrong.

WGN offering the 1 to 4 p.m. slot to the Blago husband and wife. Broke to a commercial and then came back with the music to "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly."

This is all too funny. Program manager is explaining this on air. Gives Blago a chance to collaborate with the Tribune editorial board members. Bring down the conspiracy against him from the inside.

A nice touch now would be for someone to round up all of the folks Rod fired for questioning his policy choices. It would be quite a crowd and a nice counterpoint to his current tack.

And, really, suggesting that Pat Quinn, of all people, the guy who hands out tea bag all the time, has been looking to raise taxes...it blows my mind.

While the GOPers are rolling out their '10 campaign theme (which was the same as the failed '08 theme) it is time to offer this little update....
    Profile of the Sociopath
This website summarizes some of the common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.

    Glibness and Superficial Charm

    Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

    Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

    Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

    Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

    Incapacity for Love

    Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

    Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

    Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

    Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

    Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

    Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

    Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.
