I like to dis Blago as well as anyone, but the term "untrue rumors" is a new one. In SS class we often try to define what a rumor is. If someone tells you that they are an alcoholic and you tell someone else, is that a rumor? I see some pretty unfactual things in the mainstream press (such as CBS), so what exactly is an untrue rumor?

You must be cripplingly gullible if the phrase "untrue rumor" is new to you.


I got news for you, anonymous: many, if not most, rumors are untrue.



Let's just keep it clean and honest, shall we?

To me, the juiciest tid-bit in Goudie's original story was the info about the blond intern, who was allowed to drive a state police car that was assigned to one of the troopers. Goudie clearly implied that this trooper and the intern were...um...close. But I always wondered if the state trooper was just being a good "wing-man". Ya' know, like the Arkansas State Police executive security detail in the 1980's.

For what its worth, having first met Chuck Goudie 25 years ago, I've never known him to report something without checking it out. So, hopefully, since we in SPI don't have access to WLS, you'll let us know what the story is whenever it breaks.

The original story on Blago's security detail was very well done, and all the evidence indicates that Blago knew or should have known about many of the problems, and exploited the overstaffing for his own convenience.


In any other context, "untrue rumors" would be a redundancy. Rumors are usually presumed to be suspect at best by those who think, and presumed to be true by those who don't. Personally, when the rumor is about a politician, it usually just confirms what I think of politicians.



You have to admit, Blago hasn't really done that much (besides talk a good game) since he got the job. It's not that far a jump from "lazy" to "corrupt."

I anm very hurt that people do not see that Chuck Goudie does not always check out the truth of what he reports! A close friend to myns family was slandered many times over the years by Mr.Goudie. Mr. Goudie must be protected by a Golden Unbrella he has been granted by ABC! Dan Rather of CBS was fired for doing much less! I guess ABC standards are less. Ethics and morality do not matter much to WLS!
